Inside Maura Higgins' dating history as she 'splits' from Giovanni Pernice (2025)

Maura Higgins first found fame on Love Island back in 2019, where she made it to the final alongside her ex-boyfriend Curtis Pritchard.

Since her time on the show, the star has dated another co-star, Chris Taylor, and been linked to a fair few hunks.

The brunette beauty, 30, was most recently linked to Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice, and fans were over the moon for her.

However, things seem to have gone south for the pair only a few months in.

So who is Maura's most recent man, and who did she date before? Let’s take a look…

Giovanni Pernice

Maura and Strictly professional Giovanni, 30, first set tongues wagging back in June, when they appeared to stay at the same Cornish hotel for a mini break.

Fuel was the added to the fire after the pair were thought to be enjoying the football at Wembley Stadium.

The pair eventually confirmed their relationship with a series of romantic photos posted whilst on holiday together in July.

Maura captioned the sultry photo: "I'm yours," with a red heart emoji, and Giovanni posted a photo, too, of the pair together with the caption: "You're mine."

Endless gushing posts on social media, romantic trips away and public appearances followed, but it appears wasn't meant to be.

As it was recently claimed that the pair had called it quits following a whirlwind romance.

The rumours haven't yet been confirmed by the pair, but Maura and Giovanni have both deleted their PDA packed snaps from their Instagram pages.

Chris Taylor

Maura confirmed her relationship to fellow Love Islander Chris Taylor with an intimate snap towards the end of November 2020.

The stars each took to their own Instagram accounts to post the loved-up photo together as they broke the news to their millions of followers.

The snap showed Chris, 30, wearing a black and khaki green patterned shirt with black ripped jeans and a pair of glasses as he wraps his arms around Maura and leans in for a kiss.

Chris captioned his picture: "Turns out I fell in love with my best mate @maurahiggins," alongside a black heart emoji, while Maura wrote on hers: "He’s mine @christophertaylorofficial," alongside a red heart emoji.

Before this, the pair classed themselves as best friends for quite some time, but the rumour mill was turning and fans believed more than once that Maura and Chris were a secret couple.

Since confirming the news, the reality stars enjoyed each other’s company and gushed over each other on Instagram while on holiday in Dubai.

Speculation around the pair's relationship had been growing since May earlier that year, and fans begged the two to start dating after they shared a sweet photo together.

However, Maura had always denied any romance rumours between them until now.

A few months after getting together, the couple called time on their romance and announced their shock split.

Maura wrote: “It breaks my heart to even type this. But I wanted to let everyone know that myself and Chris have made the joint decision to end our relationship.

“There is no wrong doing on either side… We still love, care and respect each other deeply. From the minute we met each other we’ve been very close friends and that will never change.

“There is no regret. Life is about taking chances. We wanted to make this work but we have realised we work better being friends.

“Whilst I appreciate people may speculate or create false stories, this is the truth. I wish Chris nothing but the best and I will always be one of his biggest supporters.”

Maura added: “Thank you for all the love and support.”

Michael Griffiths

Before Chris, Maura was linked to one of his pals and Love Island star Michael Griffiths after they were spotted having dinner together in Essex, however it seems it was purely friendly.

Curtis Pritchard

Maura and Curtis Pritchard struck up a romance in the Love Island villa, but it came to an end at the start of 2020.

The pair’s romance didn't seem likely during the start of the series with Maura first taking liking to Tommy Fury while Curtis was paired up with Amy Hart.

Curtis and Maura enjoyed an eight month relationship before calling it quits and announcing the news on social media.

Taking to Instagram, Maura penned at the time: “Curtis and I have made the decision to separate.

"We enjoyed a great experience from our time in the villa and want to thank everyone for supporting our relationship.

"There is no easy way to get through a break-up and no bad feeling on either side. We tried to make it work but it wasn't to be and I wish Curtis nothing but the best for the future."

Speaking about their relationship after it ended, Maura called it "strange".

The two hardly ever had the time to see each other in person, which eventually lead to rumours that they were broken up or even cheating on each other.

She said: "At the beginning it was very, very hard because I was so besotted with him, and we never got to see each other.

"When we did, it was really nice because you got the time to miss somebody. But sometimes it would be two weeks."

James Finnegan

Before finding fame on Love Island, Maura dated car salesman James Finnegan for nine years.

The pair who met at school were engaged in 2012 but their romance wasn't meant to be.
